An unknown error occurred while processing the current request. This is a server error, but you will also receive this error, “Cannot Verify Server identity. Exchange can’t verify the identity of “iphone 4.apple-exchange.com” on the iPhone iOS4 unit from time to time. This is a normal error when the iPhone suspect some type of Certificate mismatch or error. There is no need to start “destroying” your exchange server.

I’m trying to get an iPhone 3G to sync with my Exchange 2003 SP2 server using Activesync, and I’m running into some problems. I had been looking for the solution for syncing your iphone with exchange server 2003 for quite some time now. This customer was right, his issues were a bit tricky than our typical activesync repair. We were able to get him up and running in about 55 minutes, and all of his iPhone are syncing now! - Install Configure Outlook Anywhere within IIS / Exchange. [FALSE] RPC/HTTP : You will view this suggestion all the time on google. Great way to connect your Outlook 2007/2003 clients to your server, but has nothing to do with ActiveSync.
- IMAP Port 143, 993 open on firewall. [FALSE] Old school. You want Activesync working. These ports are not necessary for Activesync. Activesync works over TCP port 443 [you only need one port open on the firewall]

A certificate with exchange isn’t necessary to put it on the iPad or iPhone 4. Ignore any post that says to put a certificate on the phone. We have seen many “quirky problems” Just to let you know we did fix this within 35 minutes and of this company’s iPhones and iPads are now working (9 iPhone and 2 iPads)
