Wouldn’t you say configuring ”iphone & activesync” is a pleasurable project. NOT! Let’s face it, if you are reading this post right now, you are probably in the trenches like the other 1,000 who visit TechnoKOZ blog each day.

Why no answers from Microsoft or Apple?

The solution is not so easy to resolve. You see these Microsoft 2003 Exchange Servers have been in place for a number of years. Various products have been installed and integrated within the operating system. Thus, the problem.

We are curious to know if you have made contact with Apple’s technical support department. If so, what type of response did you receive. Each person who leaves us a comment on this post will receive $5.00 off their $175.00 installation.

Here is a message displaying typical frustration seen on the Apple Support Discussion forum:

You can read the entire thread by following this iphone – exchange link

Hi ! I have been dealing with this exact problem since I got the new iPhone, Almost a month ago… I had people coming to the office, I even had an Apple Genius appointment.. Nothing worked..I hate to say it, but I had to pay the $175 at http://www.computerrepairservice.net/blogHe did a great job, after close to an hour, the problem was solved…

I personally just had no other choice, local technician came here and even the Apple Genius guy could not solve it.

Regardless of this, it is a shame that Apple is not giving some formal word on this issue, that looks like very simple to solve.

Good luck to all..

I just called Robert at computerrepairservice mentioned above and he got
this working for me. I had spent about 12 hours trying to resolve the
problem and kept thinking I was close, but I couldn’t get it working. Apple
techs just don’t know exchange. Robert fixed it quickly. It was well worth
the fee he charged. Now my client can have his iphone back and I don’t have
to work till midnight tonight. I definitely recommend calling and getting
him to fix it without spending another minute on it yourself.

technoKOZ is not just limited to connecting an IPHONE to a Windows 2003 SBS / Standard / Enterprise – Exchange server. We also provide services to enable remote Outlook “Anywhere” 2003 – 2007 connections to your corporate Exchange server over a SSL connection without using a VPN connection. Why is this Outlook Anywhere important?

Secure connection from XP, Vista, Mac Outlook 2003 / 2007 to your corporate exchange server

Common interface. You won’t have to access your corporate email site through outlook web access anymore from your home or laptop computer to receive and send mail.

Access to all of your email folders, contacts, and calendars. You will have the same familiar touch and access to your exchange server as you would if you were inside your building.

Ability to share and access other user’s email, contacts, calendars. Outlook Web access (OWA) makes it almost impossible to access another user’s contacts and calendar. However, HTTP over RPC connection within Outlook provides a common interface for you to easily access this data.

Anderson Business Advisors out of the moss and coffee house row of Seattle contacted us recently to end their Windows 2003 Exchange – ActiveSync misery. We have been told there was not enough coffee to keep these folks awake to resolve their Apple iphone issue. Again, the theme was common, “Please end this crazy pain.” So, we did, and this fine firm can continue its success in what it does best — Helping businesses with Law issues!

Active Sync issues like this are best left for the experts. We know each iphone sync problem is different and the solutions do vary. There is not just one cookie cutter solution for all repairs. If you enjoy reading, continue to read. We still believe that 98% of all of the posts regarding this problem are just to entice you to visit their web page / computer repair blog, so they can SELL you something.

Another iphone computer repair story from the trenches:

PATTON LAW a leading Arizona law firm, who is dedicated to Victims of Medical Malpractice, sought our exchange – iphone integration expertise. YES, Phoenix, Arizona we have a winning team. Maybe not the Cardinals, but technoKOZ. This professional & leading firm received numerous quotes to end their IPHONE 3G headache. Most Phoenix Repair Companies were offering exchange services from $85/hr — all the way up to $195 / hr. What a sticker shock! Yet, each company professed they could fix their iphone sync headaches, but none of them could provide a simple quote for the number of hours to complete the repair of their Windows 2003 Exchange Server. YES, NONE of them. The main partner of the firm, David Patton contacted me in disbelief. He was shocked to discover a local Arizona company offering a flat rate iphone repair. Within 30 minutes, technoKOZ had his Windows 2003 Exchange server syncing with his iphones.

Continue your own hunt for the RED OCTOBER. Patton Law is enjoying their new iphone 3Gs now. They were moments away from returning all of their iphones back to AT&T. BUT, technoKOZ saved the day.

Thank you so much for fixing my remote desktop last night. I’m extremely excited about finding you. You made mention that you are good at solving complicated problem. I have an issue that I thought my IT team could easily do. As you know, my wife and I have a home office that is set up with 2 lap top computers/wireless system. At home we have a wireless printer (HP DeskJet 6988). All printer functions wirelessly work while connected to the internet, etc at home. I wanted this home printer to work when we are logged into the server using Remote Desktop. The IT team said I cannot print anything on the HP DeskJet at my house when I am remotely connected. Is this an issue that you could provide some magic for?

We provided a simple and reliable solution – his HP DeskJet printer wasn’t supported on a Windows 2003 server. So, we installed a DeskJet compatible printer and routed the RAW traffic (port 9100) from his server to his XP home workstation.

Flaws in the Mail and Safari applications bundled with the iPhone leave home and corporate users of the device at greater risk of phishing attacks were recently uncovered by Security researcher Aviv Raff, who uncovered the flaw,

Mail and Safari on version 1.1.4 and 2.0 of the iPhone firmware are affected by this vulnerability. One more important reason why companies should consider using an edge spam/virus filter, like a barracuda device or at the very least implement Microsoft’s bayesian – RBL filter.

Yes America, it is a dawn of a new day! I agree technology is great. However, wouldn’t it be better if your iPhone was actually syncing right now to your Exchange Server? Why continue to look for a solution only to find dead-ends? We Guarantee that your iPhone will be receiving / connecting to your Microsoft Exchange Server within a short technical support call with us [480-440-4650]– for only $175.00 Flat RATE!

You see, we have solved iPhone 3G - Exchange sync issues for another stellar company. Stelera Wireless to be exact, a leader in deploying broadband services to rural markets throughout the United States. Stelera Wireless is committed to providing our customers with the latest and most robust technology to provide the fastest data speeds available.

Why did Stelera seek our technical expertise? Simple, they were tired of searching for a solution. Ed, CEO, of Stelera is a savvy owner and Co-founder. He knows it makes sense to leave the technical issues to the pros and is why he contacted our repair company to solve his iPhone issue. America is built on trust and Ed knew we would fix his issues rapidly, so his IT Department could focus on projects, not Sync issues.

I hope you can see the light at the end of the tunnel too. Make the call and you will not regret it, because we will provide top-notch results and fix your sync issues today! 480-440-4650

** NO ADVANCE PAYMENT REQUIRED **

TechnoKOZ is the most affordable iPhone Exchange Setup Experts found anywhere for enterprise, small business, and IT Repair companies. Give us a call today: 480.440.4650 / Skype: TECHNOKOZ
…and remember NO SYNC, no payment!

… Payment at the end of the call after a functioning iPhone & Exchange sync.

___________________________________________________

We recently inquired with Apple’s technical group, regarding connection issues with the iPhone 3G to a Microsoft Exchange server. The default Exchange option ”Exchange” from the main setup screen is no longer using IMAP to communicate to an Exchange Server. Apple is now using Microsoft Exchange OMA (Active Sync). Ok, this is improved technology, integration, security etc. for Apple iPhone. However, if you have a corrupted SSL certificate on your Exchange server, or have no installed Certificate, you will not be able to access your Exchange server through ActiveSync. Even though there is an option to turn off encryption, this setting, Non-encryption is not supported. So, if you need to run your iPhone 3g without certificates, you will need to use the old IMAP route, selecting other during the configuration process.

Otherwise, you will have to invest some time and technology to configure a certificate on you Exchange server and open up 443, for OMA ActiveSync.

There is a prerequisite document on the Apple web site, which also instructs the network admin to open Port 443 on the edge firewall. So, it appears Apple want to keep everything secure? No support for non ssl OMA connections?

Here are some steps to test your OMA configuration of your Exchange server.

From the outside of your network, from home, use IE (Internet explorer) and open the following:

https://mail.domainserver.com/OMA

You will have to use the dns name of your exchangeserver. (in my example, I used mail.domainserver.com — please substitute your domain information into this field.)

You might receive a certificate error, if so, please continue.

You will be prompted for your user id and password, please input your exchange server user id and password.

If everything worked, you should receive a screen with the following information: The device type you are using is not supported. Press Ok to continue.Ok
Ok, and do not warn me again

User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 7.0; Windows NT 5.1; Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1) ; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.648; Windows-Media-Player/10.00.00.3990; .NET CLR 3.5.21022)
