This can be very frustrating to received this dreaded, exchange account verification failed message. This can be cause by:
- Typo on account setup screen
It is easy to fat finger the password and server address screen. Remember the server address is just your simple owa address [mail.xyz.co.uk]. Typically the domain field is not necessary. The username field is just your simple log-on to the server. We recommend users to retype their password whenever encountering this error message. - User account does not have Activesync permission
Rarely does this come into question, but we have had one occasion where we spent an extra 40 minute on a trouble call, only to find the user did not have Activesync permission. So, check the user’s account in active directory. Exchange Advance Features. - 443 is not correctly opened on firewall
iPhone is not dependent on a particular firewall manufacturer. All firewalls are the same (SonicWall, Cisco Pix, WatchGuard, etc.) when it comes to the iPhone and Microsoft Exchange Activesync.
